COMMITTEE UPDATE
First up thank you to the Waverley bowlers that have made themselves available to represent the club in the various competitions this year while the development continues at Waverley Greens. The Members are excited by the progress of the construction and can’t wait to play on the two championship greens when they are completed by mid-2023.
A particular thanks to new Members who have provided support and enthusiasm as we anticipate the opening of the new Club. And of course to all the bowling clubs who have provided space for our roll ups and in some cases, our championship games, with special thanks to Bronte Bowling Club.
Pennants season has ended for this year. In 2021 Pennants were gender neutral, however, the competition this year returned to separate Men’s and Women’s competitions, played throughout August and September. Gender-neutral competition will be played in March 2023, returning to the “One Club” philosophy.
Women’s Pennants: I am happy to report that whist we did not go through to Grade 4 play-offs as we had last year, we were able to go up to Grade 3 and field teams during the week as well as weekend games this season, largely due to the new Waverley Women members being available for selection. Special thanks to Carlos and the greenkeeper and staff at Hillsdale Bowling Club for allowing our home games to be played there.
Work steams ahead on our new clubhouse, now named Waverley Greens. We look forward to sharing an update on the works at our AGM in early December 2022, with a date to be set shortly. We look forward to as many of the Waverley Bowling Club Members getting together after the AGM for a sausage sizzle and a roll-up. Please support your committee by attending the AGM and bring your questions.
