Waverley Bowling Club’s 130th Celebrations

On a sunny Friday afternoon during the opening week of Waverley Greens, the Waverley Bowling Club with support from the Easts Group representatives, local Members of Parliament and the community, celebrated the sporting club’s 130th anniversary.

Easts Group General Manager (Easts & Waverley Greens) Brett Crastin, General Manager Strategy & Growth, Paul Grzanka, People & Culture Manager, Samantha Barrett and Operations Manager (Easts & Waverley Greens), Cain Price, joined Dr. Marjorie O’Neill MP and Mayor of Waverley Council, Paula Masselos, at the official ceremony, which included a piper-led parade onto the grounds, smoking ceremony and refreshments in the club.

After several years of competing at neighboring bowling greens at Coogee and Bronte, the Waverley Bowling Club were thrilled to step onto the synthetic turf green at the newly opened Waverley Greens. While the championship turf green grows in over the summer, the sporting club are delighted to be able to compete back on home turf.

The two presidents of the Waverley Bowling Club, Pat Fitzsimons and Marilyn Eccles spoke prior to the cutting of the cake, speaking highly of the renovations and to the Easts Group’s commitment not only to their club, but also the local community – delivering a venue that far exceeded their promises.

Easts & Waverley Greens General Manager, Brett Crastin said, The Easts Group are thrilled to be part of these celebrations and look forward to another 130 years in partnership with the bowling club. It takes perseverance and patience to wait for a redevelopment such as the one we undertook here at Waverley Greens, and I’m positive you agree that it’s been worth the wait.’

Waverley Greens is now open to Members and the local community from 10am daily. Bookings for the bowling green can be made via the website: waverleygreens.com.au
